PARTICIPATION IN A COLLECTIVE
DATE
February - May 2025
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Write a letter or draw a picture on a piece of white paper sharing your thoughts on your home.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Take a picture or scan your letter or drawing. Send it to info@azkunazentroa.eus before May 1st with LETTER TO CHIHARU SHIOTA in the subject line.
EXHIBITION
The letters and drawings received will be part of an art installation in Chiharu Shiota’s exhibition at Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao.
For her "My House is your House" exhibition, Chiharu Shiota extends an invitation to the public to take part in a participatory action.
To this end, she invites all those people interested to send a letter or a drawing describing their personal interpretation of the concept of “home”. These contributions will be incorporated into the large-scale installation designed for the exhibition as a collective work of art.

INVITATION FROM THE ARTIST
Home is not merely a place but rather a collection of objects that embody our memories and emotions. It is where our stories begin and they continue to unfold. I invite you to share with me the essence of your home in my new installation “My House is your House” at Azkuna Zentroa. I want to know what it is made of. And not only the materials, but also the feelings, the connections, the invisible threads that bind you to it.
How would you describe your home? Is it a place of warmth or of emptiness? Does it hold the echoes of laughter and the weight of silence? What objects within it carry the most meaning? And what do you hold dear that others may not see?
I believe that the story of each home is part of a larger, collective story, a story of belonging and change. As I weave these personal stories into my installation, I hope to create a space that reflects the many different ways we experience “home” in the world.
How to take part:
Your letters will become part of an installation that transcends the individual and connects with the universal. I look forward to receiving your reflections, and to feeling the presence of your home through your letters.
