Dancer and choreographer Janire Etxabe merges vertical dance and art with memory and popular culture using Basque nature as a support for the movement.
“Atxine” is her first solo flight, a suspended dance that explores emotions during different stages of life, such as birth, youth, war, and old age. Through the various possibilities of interacting with an object, she reveals how such object changes its symbolism and concept at each of these stages.

In the sound space created by composer Paula Olaz, traditional melodies like those of the string drum or xirula will encounter more industrial and modern sounds.
A woman and her headwear (buruko) represent the cultural and emotional baggage she carries throughout her life cycle via a structure that changes its symbolism in each scene. Within it, the woman will be born and find refuge. And from that same structure, she will pour out her voice, her sweat, and her life.
