Artist Karlos Martínez has launched the PLAN project, within the framework of Babestu. Extraordinary Support Programme for Contemporary Creation, a discontinuous space dedicated to the creation and presentation of art projects from which to explore the simultaneity of physical and digital beings.

In this first plan, the North American artist Kara Güt presents her work Intimacy Mode Live, a performative action broadcast live, where requests are collected from the audience through a chat, and where the performer is replaced by a proxy.
The performance shows two involved avatars joined by the magnetism of their mouths. They rely on the physical form of the rag doll, to be launched during a choreography where the virtual bodies contort themselves in impossible violent hugs. With this work the artist poses a series of questions: Does mediation through a digital space bring us closer or take us farther away from human experience? Does the elimination of a real body take with it our sense of humanity or does it release us? Perhaps, in the absence of a real body, is it possible for a totally new language of interpretation to come about, i.e. an alternative mode of expression unrelated to physical identities? And bearing that in mind, is intimacy, desire, sexuality and yearning still.
