Azkuna Zentroa - Alhóndiga Bilbao invites the public to take part in the performance of "Txirikorda", the project Mexican artist Héctor Zamora has created for Prototipoak Bilbao 2025, the International Biennial of New Artistic Forms.
Héctor Zamora is internationally known for his work in public spaces and experimenting with ephemeral architectures, performative structures, likewise the active participation of the public. His work challenges the relationship between art, community and work, exploring the symbolic potential of ordinary materials and actions.
“Txirikorda”, his new in situ action and installation, are conceived around textiles and geometric shapes in conversation with the Azkuna Zentroa terrace architecture. Here, an enormous piece of fabric is woven through the arches comprising this outdoor structure to form a geometrical pattern blurring the interior and exterior boundaries through a dynamic handling game.
The work includes its activation via 2 performances starring volunteers. This artistic action consists of swaying the pieces of fabric in a poetic gesture seeking to caress the architecture through an ethereal movement.
Through this call, a group of people will be selected to take part in the activation of the work. Each performance will last 10 minutes (though you must be in the space 30 minutes in advance) and there will be a 3 hour full dress rehearsal.

Participant profile:
People between 18 and 65 years old interested in taking part in this artistic experience.
The action involves moderate exertion so you must be physically fit.
Interest in and commitment to the activity is all you require, since no prior experience in art or performance is necessary.
You can take part in only one performance; however, priority will be given to those who can take part in both.
Those chosen will receive a double invitation to attend all the Prototipoak activities, including the Ça Marche company theatre play “Trabajos Forzados” as well as artist Hanna Tuulikki’s musical performance “The bird that never flew”.
