OPEN DOOR DAY TO ARTISTIC CREATION: ENCOUNTER WITH THE PROCESSES

The aim of these programmes is to promote the development of the creative fabric by facilitating connections, both internal and external, building networks between local and international artists, and encouraging artistic research and experimentation through the Centre’s six programme lines: contemporary art, live arts, film and audio-visuals, literature, digital cultures and society.

There is a public component to each one of these processes which facilitates the public’s access to contemporary artistic reflection, not only through the works themselves, but also through the creative processes involved. The artists contribute to the programming in this way, going beyond traditional formats and working with the communities of audiences to familiarise them with other contexts.

This year’s open-doors day highlights the presentation of the projects of artists who have worked in recent months in the framework of Babestu. Extraordinary call to support contemporary creation. They are Irati Inoriza, Maider Aldasoro, Karlos Martinez and Iker Vázquez, who will show their work until October 10 in different spaces of the Centre. Moreover, Miriam Isasi and Borja Crespo & Raquel Meyers will open the doors of their spaces at the Mediateka BBK on September 16 to present and share their creative processes. In addition, in the Mediateka, guided tours are carried out in which you can get to know the spaces, resources and activities that take place in this facility.

The artists and researchers associated with Azkuna Zentroa Isabel de Naverán, Laida Lertxundi and Aimar Arriola show their works in progress during the Day in their spaces in Lantegia. Promoted by Ainara Elogoibar and Usue Arrieta, Kinu is a self-training tool in which to share creative experiences and, through them, open spaces for the production and training of local agents attending to their needs and desires.

DendAZ. This is Basque Design, the Azkuna Zentroa store also goes out to the Atrium with a sample of the products that can be found in the store, created by the thirty designers who make up this creative community around design.

The open house is also an opportunity to visit the exhibition “Todos los conciertos, todas las noches, todo vacío” by artist Ana Laura Aláez, one of the most prominent artists on the contemporary scene; and the installations activated within the framework of Prototipoak, the International Biennial of New Artistic Forms. These are the projects ” Arboles viajeros”, the tree line by the artist José Ramón Ais, installed in the Terrace of the Centre; “BroadWindow” the intervention in the form of a biotope by the architects Diego Solaguren and Sébastien Tripod, on the façade of Iparraguirre street; and the photographic installation “BIO-INT-DÍA” by the artist Elssie Ansareo, in the Atrium.
