Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao kicks off the 2023-2024 season on 28 September with AZzabalik. Meeting on Artistic Creation, aimed at learning about, sharing and experiencing contemporary production with artists from the Centre.
With proposals for all communities of audiences, the programme highlights the “open studios” of the creators who are currently under an artistic practice residency in Lantegia. Laboratory of Ideas and the resident artists of this year’s Babestu. Creation Support Programme call.
In addition to the sample of materials which have emerged in these processes, the Meeting includes performative actions and presentations revolving around the artists’ work in the different spaces of the Centre.
Within the framework of the “ACuTe. Culture Testbeds for Performing Arts and New Technology” project, the Marin Sorescu National Theatre of Craiova (Romania) team will present the “Reconstituirea” project, a stage production prototype with a multidisciplinary approach, which integrates theatre, film and virtual reality with live artists and a multi-layered gamified mediaturgy.

Urbanbat, the office for research and mediation in urban regeneration processes, holds the last meeting “Behatokia 6: Migraciones”. The Behatokia project was set in motion throughout this year as a Resident Collective in AZ.
AZzabalik is also an opportunity to learn about the “Degrow” exhibition, together with its creator, Bene Bergado and the curator of the exhibition Juan Luis Moraza, through a guided and narrated tour of the installations and sculptures.
eszenAZ, Azkuna Zentroa Performing Arts Season 2023 - 2024, starts on the same day with a double dance session in the Atrium. The artistic duo Osa+Mujika will perform “Bueltaxka” and the choreographer Matxalen Bilbao will perform the piece “Fugas”.
