Basque choreographer Ziomara Hormaetxe presents "LĀTTICE", a movement-based performance piece produced by Azkuna Zentroa as part of the European project "ACuTe. Culture Testbeds for Performing Arts and New Technology", in which the Centre is a strategic partner, with support from the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme.
“LĀTTICE” draws from the principles of quantum physics to transcend conventional reality.
In a constant dialogue between body and technology, this work explores gravity as an omnipresent force that passes through the body in multiple layers: from the physical to the quantum, shaping the ways in which we experience space and movement.
The work proposes a journey through virtual spaces, multiverses, where each layer of reality opens up new possibilities of existence and connection, expanding the ways in which contemporary narratives of collaboration transform our reality.

Using a collaborative methodology rooted in a principle of uncertainty that generates textures, vibrations, and movement, the piece transforms into a dynamic stage design that immerses the audience in a mathematical space of possibilities, a vast matrix that both creates worlds and is shaped by them.
It is an augmented stage design, an algorithmic system custom-built for the production, based on real-time processes and rendering, much like a video game. Programming languages and creative coding have been used in infinite and unpredictable environments from which infinite possibilities and unrepeatable combinations emerge.
The result is a multidisciplinary work that combines new digital creation techniques with new non-sequential quantum techniques.

Ziomara Hormaetxe Fernández earned a degree in Art History from the University of the Basque Country and is a choreographer and dancer from Gernika.
She studied dance at the Université Sophia Antipolis in Nice and at the École Supérieure de Danse in Cannes. After years of freelancing, in 2014 she founded her own company, Ziomara Hormaetxe Company. Since then she has been working on the creation of artistic projects as an independent choreographer and performer. She is constantly striving to integrate dance and new technologies, collaborating with artists who work with touch designers, new media artists, interactive video, Cinema 4D or Artificial Life Scenography with AI.
Some of her most notable works include “Symbiosis”, which toured Venezuela; “Biopiracy”, which premiered at the New Dance Festival in South Korea and at the Detroit City Dance Festival in the US; and Ahotsak, featuring testimonies of the victims of the Gernika bombing, which premiered at the Le Temps D'Aimer la Danse Festival in Biarritz and the Le Etoile du Nord theatre in Paris.
She combines her work as a performer and choreographer with teaching, leading contemporary dance workshops and developing new projects.
